AMERICAN LEGION CHILDREN'S HOME
Need to Know SUMMER, 2010 Issue #73 |
 |
|
A Busy Summer, With More To Come...
We have had a very busy summer. On June 11 and 12, Bill Alexander, Kerri Bowman
and Lori Henderson ventured to Alexandria, Louisiana for the Louisiana American Legion
State Convention. We made many new friends by telling our old story.
Bill also traveled to Beaumont, Texas for the Texas American Legion State Convention
on June 25 and 26. His wife, Pennie, accompanied him and they had a great time! Everyone
was very interested in helping our Home in any way possible. Since returning from these two
trips, we have received over $11500 from Texas and Louisiana! What great states and great
people!
We had a visit from the American Legion Riders Post 29 of Jackson, Michigan on
June 28. Four Riders made the trip and spent a few hours on our campus before presenting
us with a check for $2000! This is the very kind of support we need from our Legion family
all across the nation.
We are working diligently to get the word out about our current situation. We have
been invited to the Colorado American Legion Mid-Winter Conference this year. Our goal
is to visit every Department state convention to spread the word about the ONLY American
Legion Children’s Home, so please call or email if you would like for us to speak and present
at your convention.
We are finalizing our trip plans for the American Legion National Convention in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 26-31. Please come by our booth (#105) if you are going
to the National Convention. We are also looking for volunteers to wear special shirts while
there and help at the booth, so please call us if you are interested in doing so. Th ere has
not been a greater need for your support in our long history than there is today. We need
everyone to pull together to help us save this Home!
